One Last Bowl
This next film is an instant Spectrum classic! A competitive story of what it takes to win a tough game when the odds are stacked against you and how to trust your teammates.
Two prominent stars of the film, Robert Girolami and Anthony Campoli, share some of their thoughts and memories making the movie:
Robert, how would you describe the movie?
The sports drama film is about a group of friends Leon, Ricky and Carlos that partake in a bowling tournament against a group of bullies who used to be friends with Leon. They seek out the former bowling champion and employee of the Oleander Bowling Alley Axel "The Striking Angel" Wolfff. The friends each struggle with life after high school and how the world will affect them. The film teaches you don't always have to win or lose, just enjoy yourself and take time with what's happening now.
Robert, What were some of your favourite memories?
I really enjoyed the filming process especially at the bowling alley where we got to bowl. Also, I enjoyed the performances from most of the actors.
Anthony, what was your inspiration for this film?
I would say the film is my attempt to do a casual, stripped-back sports drama. At the time, I was inspired by directors like Wes Anderson, in terms of cinematography, so I wanted to give that a shot. Amidst all the action-oriented, superhero films that were being pumped out during the summer camps, I've figured this script written by Robert Girolami would add some much needed diversity in the Spectrum canon of films.
Anthony, What was it like behind the scenes?
Working on the film was an interesting, new film-making experience, as I was able to see for myself the process of location scouting and getting the approval of the owner's for filming in these areas. Being able to make a film about bowling was exciting for me, as I loved playing bowling as a kid and was also part of a league at my local bowling alley. Unfortunately, due to schooling and the closing of that specific alley, I stopped playing bowling semi-professionally. That's why being able to play some bowling during the shooting of this film was especially exciting for me. In the way, this script reflects my life as a bowling player. Given the tight scheduling of the shoot however, shooting the scenes at the bowling alley itself was pretty stressful as everybody had to be on their best behavior. Behind the scenes, my favorite moment was taking the opportunity to play a nice, friendly bowling game with all the actors on set. Also, it was fun seeing PHG, one of the actresses take her initial idea of wanting to make a film of her mythical/fantasy "Alucard" character and somehow transforming that character into an eccentric bowling player.Thanks Robert and Anthony! PHG indeed plays an incredible role in One Last Bowl, along with Cory Lariviere, Vincent Lemieux, Daniel Forcucci and Hunter Cullen.
